Census-2027

The Census of India 2027, the 16th Census of India, is being conducted in two phases.
Phase I: House Listing and Housing Census was conducted in Uttar Pradesh from May 22 to June 20, 2026, preceded by a 15-day self-enumeration period from May 7 to May 21, 2026. This phase covered information on housing conditions, household amenities, and assets possessed by households.
Phase II: Population Enumeration is scheduled to be conducted in Uttar Pradesh from December 1, 2026, to January 4, 2027, preceded by a 15-day self-enumeration period from November 16 to November 30, 2026. This phase will collect individual-level information on demographic, socio-economic, educational, migration, fertility, and other related aspects.
The Census 2027 will be conducted using digital means.
